Daniel Santos joined Success Academy in July 2016 and is currently a second grade teacher in the Bronx. At 25% of Bronx public schools, not even 1 in 10 students reads, writes, and does math on grade level. But at Mr. Santos’ school, 92% of scholars have these skills. Success Academy is changing this trajectory for the 17,000 students we serve across New York City.
There’s so much room for quick growth at Success. I went from being a beginner teacher in 2013, to holding a lead teacher role the next year, to moving into an assistant principal role just a few years later. Now I’m a principal, getting to coach others just starting out.
Coming from a competitive college, I find the pace at Success Academy to be very appealing. If we think something isn’t helping our kids, we make changes the next day — or the next period! Working here is hard, at times even exhausting, but I love being surrounded by a community that is willing to do what it takes to do right by kids.
Our network has grown to 47 schools since our founding and we plan to almost double in size over the next decade. With this rapid expansion, we have entry-level teaching and non-teaching positions across all our schools and at our network office, as well as opportunities for advancement along a range of career pathways. You can remain in the classroom, pursue school leadership, or join a team at the Network office. Regardless of your role or location, you will join a vibrant community of ambitious, mission-driven peers and receive best-in-class training and professional development that will give you the skills you need to successfully pursue your career goals at Success Academy or elsewhere.
As a Success Academy employee, you will join a team of passionate, driven people dedicated to driving the education reform movement — both here in NYC and nationally.
